Why Settle for the Lesser Evil? Vote Cthulhu!

September 24, 2008 · Posted in Coolness, Cthulhu Mythos, SF/Fantasy

Regular readers know I’m sweet on Cthulhu, so it should come as no surprise that I’m backing the Great Old One in this year’s election. I know, you’re thinking, “Catchy slogan, but what are his positions on the issues?” Good question. His campaign’s Platform and Policy Committee has put together a policy paper explaining where Cthulhu stands on a number of important issues. Spend a minute to take a look, and remember, the Platform and Policy Committee is fielding inquiries if you don’t see your pet issue(s) addressed.

Still need to get to know the candidate more? No worries. (I was going to write “never fear,” but, well, you know, it is Cthulhu we’re talking about.) So, you still need to know more about Cthulhu and his campaign. For campaign related issues, you might want to start with the Cthulhu for President 2008 blog, and for a more personal glimpse into the mind of this Great Old One, you should check out his call-in show at Calls for Cthulhu. (Don’t worry, he’s not fully awake as he fields those calls so watching shouldn’t drive you insane.)

Now that you’ve gotten to know the candidate a bit, I’m sure you’re dying to know what you can do to support his campaign. Chaosium, Inc. has their Cthulhu for President merchandise available so you can proudly display your support for the Greater Evil, and, of course, since Cthulhu isn’t one to get behind the times, you can join the Cthluhu for President Facebook group.

LOVE the audition film at the Cthulhu for President blog. it’s painfully familiar :)

auditions pretty much bite. i had one really good one recently, with lots of gushingly fabulous feedback (“i’ll definitely be calling you!”). i got the callback. but — it’s true, my second performance tanked. they even “asked” (aka “allowed”) me to try it again, this time giving me some direction. but i wasn’t feeling it.

i keep trying to analyze why the first audition worked and the callback failed. i suspect that it was the lipgloss. i didn’t wear the same one at the callback (the one i’d worn at the audition), and see, all this paranoid talismanic thinking got in the way even as my rational mind recognized that the lipgloss didn’t matter (but somewhere deep in the sensorium, i was uncertain, and this creates a loss of confidence, which is the actor’s kiss of death).

acting. it’s a disaster. i don’t know why i do it. i think i hate myself *just enough* to keep trying :)
